Interview

Caitlyn, can you do a little bit of an introduction of yourself first?

Of course! So I’ve had my own floral business for a little over a year now but I have been working in the wedding industry for over 6 years! I love to be different so my niche is definitely a little moody, natural and messy!

Wow, 6 years! Why do you choose to start your floral business?

I’ve always had an eye for flowers, I absolutely love them. I think it’s so sweet how something so small can mean so much. Plus, I’ve always been a creative and just really wanted to combine the two.

Beautiful. I notice that you have made and preserve many bouquets for the brides. What were you thinking while creating these special floral art for them?

I think about the connection I had with them throughout the planning process and then what I would want to look at. Some of my brides are more spunky some are more reserved. I try to incorporate their personality into their preservation.

Awww, that’s wonderful. Then everyone can have the pieces that suit them best.

Exactly! That’s my goal, I want them to love it but also feel like it’s apart of them.

Could you show me an example of how you create one with the bride’s personality? Best with a photo of the pieces. Then I can show it to people.

For sure! Let me find an example. This is my bride and then the preservation! She truly wanted a statement bouquet and she just loved orchids so preserving wise I left out all of the other “white” flowers to enhance the orchids especially with the black background!

You have done a great job!

Thank you!!! I also LOVE to do shadow boxes with their bouquets, I think it’s a great way to incorporate any vows or special items.

Wonderful! Thank you! When it comes to preserving flowers, you must have to try out many brands of silica gel crystals. Why do you choose us in the end?

Of course, yesssss. I went through SO many different types. All of them were the sand / crystals but I noticed some would go bad quickly, or they would discolor my flowers WAY more to where it looked like a completely different flower! I also loved your brands involvement in the process which I think is important no matter what business it is or item. To me the wisedry has been the most efficient, productive and easy to use! Especially for beginners or people who have been doing this for years!

So flatter to hear that! Thank you so much for your love!

Absolutely of course! Love to support businesses any way I can!

I think you must have helped many people preserve their flowers. What were you thinking about when you dried those beautiful flowers? Is there a story or moment that stands out for you?

Yes! I can’t recall a moment or story but every time I start to dry them I get so nervous and I just check them like little babies lol But I think truly I want to try to capture the real and rawness of a flower more than anything. Flowers are beautiful but obviously they can’t live forever so I do love to incorporate the ones that aren’t as “perfect” to remind myself and others that it doesn’t have to be perfect in order to be beautiful.

Aww, I love the words “It doesn’t have to be perfect in order to be beautiful.” If you could sum it up in one sentence, what does this job, flower preservation mean to you?

That’s pretty much my mission statement behind my business! There’s so much beauty in chaos I would say it doesn’t feel like a job, I’m just creating something so special for someone that they can cherish forever!

It’s amazing! Thank you so much!
