Interview
Michael, can you do a little bit of an introduction of yourself first?
My name is Michael Meeks. My wife, Emily, and I have two young boys. I’m 31 years old and love to work with resin! I started out making a lot of resin charcuterie boards (which I still make), and have moved to bigger projects like tables and desks. My wife recently became interested in preserving flowers in epoxy, and so we bought all the equipment (including your silica gel!) and have been doing it ever since. I truly believe flower preservation will be a huge part of our business going forward. I opened MacArthur Woodworks in 2019.
Excellent! Nice to meet you Michael! Why do you and your wife choose to do the flower preservation? Is there a special moment?
What is your name? Nice to meet you too. There are a lot of special moments in our lives that create memories, and flowers are involved in a lot of them: weddings, funerals, anniversaries, birth of babies, etc. Every Mother’s Day, I buy my wife flowers for her to plant; now, we will be able to preserve those flowers as well! We want to be able to preserve the flowers from people’s special days for them and to serve them in that way.

Why do you choose us as your silica gel crystals brand? Have you try others’ as well?
We got recommended your brand from someone else that preserves flowers. They said your gel was the best! We did try one other gel before yours and noticed a huge difference.
Could you tell me what’s the difference between ours and other brand’s?
Your gel was more durable, and we have been able to get more uses out of it without having to throw parts away / bake it.
Understand it now. So glad that our product can help you preserve better flowers! Have you preserved flowers with memories for others before? Is there a story that leaves you a strong impression?
We haven’t yet, but are currently preserving my sister in law’s bouquet from their wedding last month! We will have a great story for that one day.
As a beginner of the flower preservation journey, what’s your expectations and wishes to the future? What does this job mean to you?
My expectation and wish for the future is to enjoy what I do while preserving special memories for others. This job means that I can be a servant to others and be able to create at the same time.
It’s amazing. Thank you.
