Laura Pritchard: Turning Life’s Most Meaningful Flowers into Lasting Keepsakes

In Conversation with Laura

For Laura Pritchard of Sadie Alaina Creations UK, every flower holds a story worth keeping. Working in Stoke-on-Trent, a town with a rich heritage of craftsmanship, Laura brings a thoughtful, personal approach to flower preservation, transforming once-in-a-lifetime blooms into resin keepsakes that can be treasured for years to come. Can you tell us a little about you?

I’m Laura Pritchard, I’m a Resin Artist & I specialise in flower preservation, I own Sadie Alaina Creations UK, I’m very proud of where I come from & where my business is based which is Stoke-on-Trent the town historically famous for its once thriving pottery industry, a town full of working me & women who were true crafts people at heart. I have beautiful flowers delivered to me from all over the uk to preserve & encapsulate into resin keepsakes. I pride myself on being very open with each and everyone of my customers as their keepsakes are bespoke made for them, that way you get the best finished keepsakes.

1. What keeps you passionate about flower preservation?

My inspiration is from my huge love of flowers & the colour variation and how they reveal themselves when they emerge from the silica after preservation and I get to encapsulate that vibrancy into resin and make it even more beautiful 😍💐

2. Tell us about your very first flower preservation order

My very first order that I completed and took money for was during Covid it was for 3 daughters who had lost the beating heart of their family, their mum who passed away overnite from Covid it was an order that I will never forget. Very sad but very honoured to complete that order for them.

3. Tell us about a meaningful flower preservation project

I met a lady at a wedding fayre who’s sister was getting married soon so they showed their interest in having the wedding flowers present and made into keepsakes but before the wedding went ahead the lady contacted me to say her husband had died suddenly and that she wanted his funeral flowers preserved into keepsakes it was such a sad but beautiful order to complete this lady became a friend and we talked often to discuss what she expected the finished keepsakes to look like, they were perfect and she returned a few months later with her sisters wedding flowers for me to preserve.

4. What has your experience with Wisedry been like?

Without Wisedry I wouldn’t be able to preserve the most beautiful wedding & funeral flowers that I receive, it’s the best silica because it helps so much to keep and maintain the colour of the flowers.

5. What’s one tip you’d give someone preserving flowers for the first time?

Always tip the flowers upside down and give them a gentle shake over tissue paper just a double check that there is no water droplets or moisture inside the flower, especially roses as they act like buckets,
