In today’s interview, we’re delighted to introduce Tia Lorraine, the heart and hands behind Golden Preserved, a floral preservation studio nestled in the lush landscapes of Western North Carolina.
With a rich background in the wedding industry—from pastry chef to florist—Tia’s journey into preservation began as a quiet rebellion against the waste of beauty she witnessed firsthand. What started as a creative outlet became a calling, transforming wedding bouquets and sentimental blooms into lasting art.
Now celebrating three years in business, Tia brings a soulful approach to her craft, including preserving memorial flowers with deep compassion. A devoted book lover, hiker, and cat mom, Tia embodies the spirit of the preservation community: heartfelt, intentional, and endlessly inspired.
We’re proud that Wisedry plays a role in her process, helping her preserve delicate petals with care—and as Tia puts it best, reminding us that “the bloom is just the beginning.”

Your Name?
Tia Lorraine
Can you do a little bit of an introduction of yourself first?
Hi! I’m Tia Lorraine and I am a floral preservationist based out of Western North Carolina. I am happily married with two stinker cats and a life I am truly in love with. In my spare time, I’m a part of two book clubs, assist with flower friends, and enjoy hiking in the beautiful place I live!
Why did you decide to start your flower preservation journey? Is there a special moment?
I have been in the wedding industry for 15 years. I started as a pastry chef, working my way through positions within catering companies from cooking to serving, and eventually landed with a planner and florist. Working with the fresh flowers and then ending the night trashing all my hard work left me wondering. I dried flowers and created art with the forgotten flowers for years before I was handed a wedding bouquet. It took a couple of people to believe in me and years of creating art to build Golden Preserved. This summer will be three official years preserving wedding bouquets professionally.

During the year of flower preservation, you must try many brands of silica gel crystals. Why do you choose us at the end?
Wisedry lasts way longer before needed to be recharged and therefore recharges quicker with how I operate my business. Wisedry also has never left indents on the delicate petals.
Have you preserved flowers with memories for others before?
Yes, I preserve memorial flowers, but I do not advertise it. It is a more personal endeavor that I like to handle with delicacy and respect
Is there a story that leaves you a strong impression?
I had one preservation from a woman that included flowers he sent her and the love letters her partner wrote her while he was unfortunately in prison. I was able to finish the preservation by the time he got out so she could surprise him. It was heartbreaking and heartwarming all at once.
If you could sum it up in one sentence, what does this job, flower preservation mean to you?
The bloom is just the beginning.
Is there anything else you want to share with us?
I really appreciate your quality products!!! And determination to provide artists and DIYers new ways to save flowers.
Thank you, Tia! We’re honored to be part of your creative journey.
