For her, flower preservation is not just a creative outlet; it is a meaningful way to connect with nature and foster connections with others who share a love for the natural world.

Interview

Leilah, can you do a little bit of an introduction of yourself first?

Hi!  I was at a meeting last night that went late and I never got to answer the question. Here’s my answer: My name is Leilah and I’ve always loved being in nature. I’ve been pressing and drying flowers for as long as I can remember. Two years ago I began to share my love of nature with others by creating pressed flower art to sell. Last year I started to add pieces made with dried flowers to my inventory. I’m always thinking of new or different ways to use flowers as art. Working with flowers has been such a fun journey so far and I’m looking forward learning more and creating more!

Why did you decide to start your flower preservation journey? Is there a special moment?

I also really love photography. I like the idea of capturing a moment that can stay that way forever. I think the idea of capturing something to preserve it forever kind of crossed over from photography into flower preservation. When I’m preserving flowers I feel like I get to capture and preserve a moment from nature in a tangible way.

“capture and preserve a moment from nature in a tangible way” This is so good! During the year of flower preservation, you must try many brands of silica gel crystals. Why do you choose us at the end?

I’ve actually never used silica gel crystals to preserve flowers! I’ve only ever pressed or air dried them. I’ve been wanting to try this method for a very long time and I’m so excited I finally have the opportunity to try it!

Oh I see. That’s good! Glad that we are the first silica gel crystals brand you will try! Have you preserved flowers with memories for others before?

I haven’t preserved anything large yet like a wedding bouquet but I have preserved a centerpiece from a wedding as well as people’s favorite flowers to give to them as a gift.

That’s good enough! Is there a story that leaves you a stong impression?

Do you mean a story I’ve heard about flower preservation or a story from my own experiences?

I mean a story behind the flowers, like the reason why your clients want to preserve their flowers?

I think flowers seem to really make people happy in general. I also think pressed and dried flowers bring back memories for people. When I’m a vendor at markets so many customers come up to me smiling and they begin telling me the pressed and dried flower art I’ve made reminds them of someone or something. They go on to tell me that they used to press flowers with their grandmother or mom when they were little. I think seeing the flowers brings back really happy memories for them.

Aww it’s so cute. Thank you so much. If you could sum it up in one sentence, what does this job, flower preservation mean to you?

Flower preservation means so much to me because it’s a creative way to feel connected with nature as well as with others who also love nature.

It’s amazing. Thank you
